Haddiscoe Parish Council is seeking a highly organised and motivated individual to take on the role of Parish Clerk and Responsible Finance Officer (RFO).
This is a varied and rewarding position at the heart of the local community, supporting the Council in its work for residents.
Key details:
- Hours: Approximately 4 hours per week
- Working pattern: Home-based
- Meetings: Attendance at 6 evening Parish Council meetings per year, plus extraordinary meetings.
- Start date: As soon as possible
Salary:
Salary will be paid in accordance with the NALC (National Association of Local Councils) pay scales, dependent on experience and qualifications.
About the role:
The Clerk is the Proper Officer of the Council and is responsible for ensuring that the Council’s business is conducted in accordance with legislation and best practice. The role also includes duties as Responsible Finance Officer, managing the Council’s financial records, budgeting, and reporting.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing agendas, minutes, and meeting papers
- Updating the website and social media pages
- Providing professional advice and administrative support to councillors
- Managing correspondence and maintaining records
- Overseeing the Council’s finances, including budgeting, payments, and audit requirements
- Ensuring compliance with statutory duties and governance procedures
About you:
- Well organised with strong administrative skills
- Confident communicator with good written English
- Basic financial management skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Previous experience in local government is preferred.
